I completed a BSc at Wits (1996) and then went on to qualify with a BSc ( Medical Honours) in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Cape Town in 1998. I am passionate about nutrition and the positive role it can play in optimizing health and well-being. I am a certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor and use a non-diet approach when I counsel. I promote Health at Every Size ® Values : Weight Inclusivity, Health enhancement , Respectful care, Eating for Well- Being and Life Enhancing movement. I provide nutrition care for adult patients. I have broad clinical experience having worked in the private sector locally and at the Royal Berkshire NHS trust in the UK providing medical, surgical and ICU nutrition support. I am affiliated with the Wits Donald Gordon Colorectal Unit and love working in the field of digestive health. I have completed additional training on IBS with EATFIT SA (www.eatfitsa.com) and am accredited to offer the low fodmap programme, which is a 2nd line option in the management of severe IBS. I also have experience with other gastrointestinal related health issues e.g. bowel cancers, diverticulosis, inflammatory bowel disease as well as post-operative nutrition support related to gut surgery. I offer nutrition support for those who struggle with swallowing and feeding problems ( dysphagia) and am able to assist out-patients with care plans related to enteral tube feeding. I have a keen interest in the management of diabetes and have completed the Centre for Diabetes advanced course in diabetes care for health care professionals. (www.cdediabetes.co.za). I developed the Restore Me programme which is suitable for anyone wanting to explore Intuitive Eating as a way to heal their relationship with food, movement and their bodies.
