Jerome Loveland is, the Head of Transplant Surgery at the Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre, and Academic Head of Transplantation, University of the Witwatersrand.
Jerome is Personal Professor, School of Clinical Medicine, University of the Witwatersrand and his specific clinical interests include paediatric liver and kidney transplantation, as well as broad aspects of adult transplantation, as well as all neonatal, hepatobiliary, and oncological and paediatric surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, Jerome has an exceptional record in clinical research, with in excess of 100 peer reviewed publications, and has demonstrated a commitment to developing this field in both Transplantation and Paediatric Surgery at Wits University.
Jerome is the founder and current chair of the Surgeons for Little Lives Charity, which has successful focused on the needs of young patients in the state healthcare sector, focusing on the pillars of Wits University, namely supporting clinical care, research, and training.
Outside of his career, Jerome is a committed family man, supported by his wife Adele, and children Laura and Alec, with whom he spends as much quality time as possible. His mental battles are fought whilst Surfing, running, paddling and fishing……
